Welcome back

Welcome back, Penn State basketball.

First, a personal note.

As many of you know, I am recovering from Guillain–Barré Syndrome. The symptoms showed during last year’s Final Four Saturday. By the Monday night final, I was completely paralyzed.

My recovery is going well. I still cannot extend my fingers (which makes it difficult to type – thank goodness for the iPad) or lift my feet up. All normal – the most distant nerves are the last to regenerate – but it makes the site difficult to manage.

Enough complaining! I hope to extend my thanks for everything the Penn State basketball community has done for me the past seven months to people in person.

Until then, let me just say here a sincere Thank You for your get-well wishes, the contributions that kept this site going, and most humbly for the many, many contributions made to my fund (set up while I was oblivious to nearly everything).

The messages of support were critical to keeping my spirits up in the intensive care and assisted ventilation units of Maine Med. Those gifts to the fund have truly kept me from going broke, which has given me great peace of mind, a huge benefit to my recovery.

Let’s hope for a great season.
