As you probably know, PennStateHoops.com webmaster Tim Beidel is going though a bout with Guillian-Barre syndrome. A medical catastrophe like the one Tim is battling can be difficult emotionally, physically and financially.
The postings on the CaringBridge Journal describe the intense, quality care Tim is receiving — care that is very expensive. Tim’s employer provides a good benefit program; however, the best of policies have deductibles, co-pays and maximum benefit limits. Many of you have asked if there is anything you can do to help and, in that regard, a fund has been established that will accept contributions from those who may want to help Tim overcome any financial hardship that may lie ahead.
An account has been opened in Tim’s name at the Savings Bank of Maine and they solely will collect and administer the funds. Only Tim will be able to make withdrawals and, if his condition would deteriorate to the extent that he would not be able to do so, appropriate legal safeguards are in place. The bank will keep detailed, confidential records that will be made available only to Tim and he will decide, when able, what to do with the money.
