Following a three-point loss to Temple, Ed DeChellis demanded a better rebounding effort on Tuesday against UMBC.The Penn State men’s basketball team responded early and often to its coach, posting 52 rebounds, 12 more than its previous season high, en route to a 16-point victory.
But despite dominating the glass and tallying a 19-3 edge in second-chance points, DeChellis still isn’t sure that effort will be enough to translate into success the rest of the season, noting the Lions’ obvious height advantage playing against a Retriever team that ran a four-guard offense.
“You need to rebound, otherwise you will not be successful in the Big Ten,” DeChellis said in Tuesday’s postgame press conference. “I thought our defensive rebounding was pretty good. I’m not sure if our offensive rebounding we have got enough. This was not a very big team we played.”…
