“The three-ball left Mike Walker’s hand with the familiar release — smooth, swift and repetitive — and descended on the rim. It got about halfway down, rattled around, and bounced out.

“Walker’s uncontested shot came at the end of a long practice, but the result was what is starting to become a nervous trend for the sophomore guard and the rest of the Penn State men’s basketball team.

“The Nittany Lions (3-2), who return to the Bryce Jordan Center at 7:30 tonight to face Missouri-Kansas City, are getting a busy signal while dialing from long range early in the season. Penn State, which will look to snap a two-game losing skid tonight, is shooting just 28 percent from 3-point range and coming off a 1-of-14 night Saturday during a 60-55 loss at Texas A&M.; …”
