Centre Daily Times: Nittany Lions face long, tough road

Centre Daily Times | 12/16/2005 | Nittany Lions face long, tough road:

“The journey, it seems, has no end in sight.

“The road leads in circles for the Penn State men’s basketball team. Blowout losses, close losses, injuries at every turn … they just keep coming.

“All Ed DeChellis and the Nittany Lions, 4-3 heading into an important stretch of home games, can do is keep going until, one day, the circle breaks.

“Along this jagged road, if you kick a little dirt aside, there are positives. The heart and motor of Jamelle Cornley. The resilience and quiet grace of Geary Claxton. The promise of Andrew Jones and David Jackson (the Younger).

“But these jewels are far outnumbered by the craters and weeds. Penn State still cannot escape injury. Danny Morrissey, Joonas Suotamo and Ben Luber, all projected starters at the season’s outset, all missed last week’s game at Pittsburgh. …”
