For many freshmen, the toughest adjustment to the college game is adapting to the increased speed. Passes, shots and feet must be quicker.
Penn State freshman point guard Tim Frazier, who will make his official debut when the Nittany Lions open their season at 7:30 p.m. tonight against Pennsylvania in the Bryce Jordan Center, won’t have that problem. The rail-thin, 6-foot speedster already plays as fast with or without the ball as anyone on the roster.
Learning when and where to apply that speed will be the key.
“That’s something we wanted to focus on, was different speeds,” Frazier said. “Coming into college, people are stronger, faster, as quick as me. I have to be able to change speeds and just have changeups and curveballs and be able to confuse players.”
