Hosting fees: You can help.




December 9, 2019 Update:

I paid a $422 invoice for the forum software this morning.

We had $231.45 left in our account from last year.

That means we were only $190.55 short.

I’m accepting donations to help defray the cost. As always:

  1. Only what you can afford
  2. No guarantee that the service will continue in perpetuity
  3. Will have no (conscious) effect on forum post moderation 🙂

In the past year I have made changes that have greatly reduced the cost of the main server, so I am picking that cost up. (The recent outage shows that we get what we pay for!)

From June 2017:

I knew I had to make some expensive changes last year when the forum software we were using became hopelessly out of date.

I didn’t ask for donations, though, because I wasn’t certain I could make the changes successfully, or that they would be embraced.

Now that we’ve made them, I’d like to see if contributors can help defray the cost.

The two-year expenses are $2,873.68 — just for hosting costs. All the work is a labor of love!

Four top prospects visiting Penn State this weekend: HoopSeen

Corey Evans at Hoop Seen reports that this weekend is a big one for Penn State basketball:

Cam Reddish of Norristown, the Westtown School and Team Final.

Much has been said about the work the staff at Penn State has done on the recruiting trail. This weekend, Pat Chambers and his staff will welcome in four top of the line prospects from the 2018 class:

  • Myles Dread COMMITTED
  • Bryce Golden
  • Isaiah Mucius – NATIONAL RANKING: 25
  • Cameron Reddish – NATIONAL RANKING: 7

Sports Info: “#UNLOCKED” Web and social media series to debut July 27

UNIVERSITY PARK – The Penn State men’s basketball team, in conjunction with WPSU, has launched a web and social media-based series called “#UNLOCKED.” The videos feature never before seen access into the Nittany Lion players, coaches, staff and program.

Videos will launch on the team’s primary social media channels – Twitter, Facebook and Instagram – while also living on GoPSUnow and YouTube.

“We want to give our fans and followers a look into our program they have never seen before,” Patrick Chambers, who is entering his sixth season as head coach, said. “This is an exciting time for Penn State basketball and we are looking forward to sharing the entire process with Nittany Nation.”

Shorter videos, like this inside look at Chambers watching his son’s baseball game, will be shared throughout the week while longer form features will debut on every other Wednesday beginning tomorrow, July 27. First Team All-Big Ten forward Jarrett Stephens will narrate the webisode featuring one of the first team practices during summer workouts.

All 13 scholarship players have been here for the second session of summer classes and working out together since the beginning of July. The Nittany Lions return three starters – Shep Garner, Payton Banks and Josh Reaves – and seven total letterwinners from a year ago. With the expected availability of UConn transfer Terrence Samuel and redshirt freshman Mike Watkins, as well as the highly-touted freshman class of Nazeer Bostick, Tony Carr, Joe Hampton and Lamar Stevens, the Nittany Lions have what CBS’ Jon Rothstein is calling a “legitimate Big Ten rotation.”

Season tickets for the Nittany Lions’ 2016-17 season are on sale now through the Ticket Account Manager (renewals) or by calling 1-800-NITTANY (new orders).
