“Penn State’s Ed DeChellis was hoping to make some noise on the national recruiting scene during this month’s early signing period. And while it happened a bit later than he would have liked — leading to some anxious moments in the Jordan Center — he did just that by landing a top prospect on the next to last day of the period.
“Jeff Brooks, a 6-foot-8, 190-pound small forward from Doss High in Louisville, sent his letter of intent to the Nittany Lions Wednesday.
“Brooks picked Penn State over Arkansas and had offers from a host of schools, including Clemson, Georgia and Virginia Tech. Nearby powers Louisville and Kentucky both showed serious interest but wanted Brooks to wait until the late-signing period before making their offers. …”
