Dave on PennLive:
Sources have confirmed Penn State got the man it wanted. Trenton Catholic 6-7 swing forward Brandon Taylor has committed to Nits, choosing over Maryland, Miami FL, Temple, South Florida and Richmond.
Taylor is an interesting player in that hes a versatile big man who fits into the Jay Wright-style 4-out-1-in scheme Patrick Chambers and staff will employ at PSU — that is, he not only is an athletic big man capable of banging inside but he has perimeter skills. He can step out, handle some and has a decent 3-point shot already.
Taylor may be seen as something of a risk compared to the more sure-thing post skills of Central Dauphins 6-8 Devin Thomas. The CD big man is also quite athletic and would be more of a consistent threat inside. But Taylor could turn into a viable perimeter wing threat. At least, that would be the hope of PSU fans.
