UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State men’s basketball coach Ed DeChellis lamented last week that his team was having trouble finding a second scorer to help lead guard Talor Battle.DeChellis found five of them Saturday as the Nittany Lions rolled over Gardner-Webb 104-57 in the Bryce Jordan Center.
Battle once again led Penn State 7-4 with 21 points in just 24 minutes, but his supporting cast also came to play against the over matched Bulldogs 3-7 as six Nittany Lions reached double figures.
Freshman point guard Tim Frazier, who had scored a total of nine points in his last three games, had 18 points Saturday. Forward Andrew Jones had five points in the first two minutes and finished with 11. Penn State also got 47 bench points — 13 from Bill Edwards and 12 apiece from Chris Babb and Andrew Ott.
The Nittany Lions finished 53 percent from the field and made 12-of-26 3-pointers. They also collected 22 assists, seven from Frazier, who created scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates by taking the ball hard to the basket all evening….
