Dave Jones’ top five:<\/p>\n

For the last few weeks,\u00a0the Big Ten Network has presented 12-15 nominees<\/a>\u00a0for each of the conference’s basketball programs and asked viewers to vote on their all-time starting five for each school….<\/p>\n

Yes, I’m taking the challenge. There’s two ways you can approach this. You can choose an all-star team of individual impact players which is the way I’m doing it. The other and very valid method would be an actual team that fits together, that you could put on the floor and mold as a unit, which is the way a coach would do it.<\/p>\n

One qualifier: I’m taking into consideration advances in the game since the 1970s or so. While basketball teamwork might have been more advanced in some enclaves in the 1950s and ’60s, the speed and athleticism and especially ball-handling of today would run those guys off the floor. So, I’m not including anyone from, say, the early 1950s on this list, sorry. Different game.<\/p>\n
