Penn State hasn\u2019t had a 7-footer in the lineup since Jan Jagla left the program in 2004.<\/p>\n

That could change by the time Peter Alexis gets to campus in the summer of 2011.<\/p>\n

The Nittany Lions\u2019 newest commitment currently checks in at 6-foot-11, 262 pounds but has yet to reach his 17th birthday and could<\/p>\n

still have some growing left to do.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe may go upward,\u201d as Mark Belenski, his coach at Holy Redeemer High School in Wilkes- Barre, puts it.<\/p>\n

As a sophomore, Alexis averaged better than 19 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks per game for the Royals, who were the District 2 Class AAA runners-up and lost in the first round of the state tournament. With Penn State coaches Ed DeChellis and Kurt Kanaskie looking on Friday night, he scored 22 points in his team\u2019s season-opening defeat of Scranton.<\/p>\n

Alexis shot an eyebrow-raising 56 percent from the foul line last season but made an impressive 68 percent of his field goal attempts and is very active in Holy Redeemer\u2019s motion offense.<\/p>\n
