I'll do what I can to help you out kid.....

Andrew Jones -  looked good I thought.  Coach Preston was on him early and often to finish strong at the rim.

Bill Edwards - I liked what I saw from this freshman.  He has a nice build and looks thinner since his signing day videos.  I was really surprised with his passing skills.

Chris Babb - Was chucking it up from everywhere.  He might have been giving the green light this year to shoot when he's got the ball.

David Jackson - DJ lookd like he's bulked up alittle.  Made some nice hustle plays.

Tim Frazier - Wow.. talk about speed and hops.  The Youtube video didnt show enough.... However, he needs to work on his shooting touch.  He's also rushing the plays.  A few times he drove into the lane but didnt have anywhere to go.  Part ok defense, part freshman.

Andrew Ott - Looked ok.  I think you'll see a little more out of him this year.  He also looked slimmer then last year.

They scored 21 points - two 10 minute halves with a running clock.

Bill Edwards in the three point shooting contest

Bill Edwards 3pt contest

Edwards and Woodyard tied in the contest and Woodyard won the shoot-off.

Nobody looked particularly good in the three point contest but it was quite understandable.  The team had just finished a two-hour practice, followed by the 20 minute scrimmage, and the guys clearly had tired legs.

Edwards has a smooth shot even with tired legs.  The worst part about watching these videos is that we have to wait another 3 weeks for some live action.   Sad

He participated in the practice but sat out the scrimmage.  I heard that he was recovering from something.

Tim Frazier's first effort in the dunking contest.  I'm loving this kid already.

This was Frazier's winning dunk in the championship round.  He wanted to jump over two kids that Chris Babb pulled out of the audience but DeChellis nixed that idea.

Andrew Jones was in the finals against Frazier.  When it came time for Jones' dunk, he was no where to be found.  It's hard to tell from the video but when he came out, he was dressed as JoePa with black rimmed glasses and rolled up pants.

Edwards was 5-5 from the arc outside the left elbow. Guess we know we here likes to shoot from. I think Babb likes this spot too.  Kind of a seam in a zone or where the wings normally stand, so I guess it's pretty common that guys like it there as they can often shoot without dribbling, which is of course much easier than shooting off the dribble.

I really think replacing Cornley's frontline points will determine this team's success, as it will show an ability to score inside, creating problems for defenses. Living and dying by the trey a recipe for failure, like the late '07/'08 season, when they played sans Cornley and Claxton. Good to see Edwards look good, and hopefully Sasa too. Still very hopeful on Oliver, really just due to comments about him by Danny and Jamelle over the last year. Players have inside info, like Lar. Wink
