For that, I would give PC an A+ for changing the PSU fan thought culture!
Don't expect Pitt to be on the OOC schedule any time soon

I am loving the sudden attitude shift among a portion of BWI posters who recognize now that the efforts of PSFRS (if that's the acronym) and the people behind it to look back instead of forward are not helping Penn State.
If you've got BWI paid access, this is one of several threads that goes against the perceived wisdom of the last 18 months over there. Circular firing squad shameful...
There turn out to be a number of people who see the ousting the BOT, Erickson and Joyner, and the restoration of the Paterno reputation as the most important things facing Penn State as something less than ideal. (For the record, fixing those things is important. It's just when that becomes the driving motivation that it threatens to destroy the Penn State community as much as the inactions that forced the firing of the four guys most involved has.)
Been trying to explain that to people since day one.
I can't wait for the day that Erickson and Joyner are replaced. Not because I think they have done a bad job (who can really say for sure what the right way to handle this would have been -- a debate we've already had in the Sandusky thread), but because it finally closes another chapter of controversy. New guys (or girls), hopefully from outside the PSU family, will be able to make changes and stand up for what they believe is right because they weren't here for the last 15 years. They'll be given more wiggle room by the media (I hope).
This is only a problem on the recruiting trail. O'Brien is right to answer it forcefully. There's also PR value in BOB being the one to answer: He was not being implicated - it was the AD. Joyner would come off as just being defensive.
But doesn't trotting the football coach in front of the media while the AD hides behind prepared statements help assert the claim that football still has too much power
NO.......................it means something different. Not hard to figure out!
What's it mean? That PSU isn't comfortable putting Joyner in front of the media?

Earth to psuhoops.com members - 15ppg players are rare around here. The vast majority of guys we recruit will never reach that level of productivity. We lose one and it's a HUGE deal.
I think that you're missing that one of the reasons that Marshall scored that many points per game is that we had a huge shortage of scorers. He had a KenPom offensive rating of 98.3 which put him 55th out of 75 players in the Big Ten. He shot 39% from the field. However, we sorely needed him because we didn't have enough other guys that could score (and thus Jermaine shot/scored a lot more than he should have). This year, we'll have a lot more scoring punch. I personally think we'll miss him more at the defensive end than the offensive end. I think that someone else in this thread called him a "volume scorer", and I agree completely. It sucks that he's leaving, and I really wish that we had him again next year. However, luckily we do have some depth at guard and his leaving won't have the same type of impact on us as Tim's injury had this past year (when we didn't have any depth behind him). And yes, I'd say all of that to his mother at the Tavern (along with telling her how much I enjoyed watching her son play, how much I respect his decision, and how I'll really be rooting for him in the future).
And no offense to Akosa/Jack, but Johnson/Thorpe are a lot more ready to contribute this year than those two guys were this past season.
Maybe Marshall hinted at this a long time ago and Chambers "oversigned". Hmmm....
It's definitely a loss but I see it as a bigger loss on the defensive side of the ball. He played good D and was good for a steal or two per game, along with some boards. I think offensively we'll be ok with the addition of JJ and Thorpe. Woodward could steal minutes if he can knock down some 3's.
