Among the many people who offered congratulations to Nazeer Bostick on Thursday night after the Philadelphia Roman Catholic guard announced he had committed to Penn State were two of his best friends, Tony Carr and Lamar Stevens.

“They were excited for me and real happy,” Bostick said. “I was hoping that I could influence them to commit next.”

Patrick Chambers has focused a large part of his recruiting efforts on the Philadelphia area since he came to Penn State in 2011, and those efforts have centered on Roman Catholic — which won its first Class AAAA state championship this March — more than usual in the Class of 2016.

Bostick’s backcourt mate through that championship run was Carr, the second-ranked player in the state and the nation’s No. 19 point guard according to the 247Sports Composite. The two will look to lead Roman (the alma mater of current Penn State point guard Shep Garner) to another title next year with the help of Stevens, who is transferring from the Haverford School and happens to be nation’s No. 25 ranked small forward.

“I’m really excited,” Bostick said. “Lamar is one of my best friends. We’ve got really good chemistry.”

Bostick hasn’t been shy about telling Stevens and Carr that he thinks that chemistry could work at the college level.”I think we could take the Big Ten by storm and show that Penn State isn’t just a football school anymore,” he said.
