BlueWhite Illustrated: Fans see momentum for Lions

Nate Bauer:

Welcoming inarguably the highest-rated recruiting class in the programs history this summer to go along with another pair of highly regarded three-star prospects already in tow for the Class of 2016, the Nittany Lions momentum from the tail-end of the season has carried over into the off-season.

“Its been great. The fans are so fired up for next year, and I think theyre excited about the class coming in and whats coming behind it. We have some momentum here,” he said. “I think there are schools out there that are getting a little bit scared of us. A little bit – ‘Wow. They’re starting to make strides, they’re starting to win some of those battles that we’ve lost the first three years…’ which is exciting.”

Wanting to take on the likes of St. John’s, Villanova, Georgetown, Maryland and Pitt, among others, on the recruiting trail, Chambers not so subtly acknowledged the program’s pursuit of big-time Philly prospects Lamar Stevens and Tony Carr, and the exploding recruitment of Dylan Painter out of Hershey.

Said Chambers, “We’re in the right battle. They’re getting after them, we’re getting after them. If we can win every now and then, that’s just going to help our program get from the bottom to the middle, middle to the top.”
